Validation Chart Phase 1

The purpose of this Workshop is to validate the draft Feasibility Study Report (FSR) which is one of the outcomes of the MasterCard Foundation grant. The FSR should elicit the information described in the 3rd column below for each Phase; the feedback given in the workshop will be incorporated into the FSR (including the cost effectiveness of what we propose, as well as relevance, impact and sustainability).

Day 1 – Overview and Phases 1 & 2(A)

  • Overview and Procedure of Workshop
  • Objectives, Key Outcome of Workshop: Validation of FSR
  • Logistics

9:45 am -12:30 pm – Chair: Beryl Pilkington

  • Detailed Description of Phase 1 Proposal for a 5-6 Year Pilot Project
  • Discussion based on presentations and draft written report

Don Dippo: Overview of Phase 1

WUSC/ WTK/AVU will speak to readiness of Phase 1 including:

  • Principles guiding programme, the scope (who has access to what, what is delivered and the outcome)
  • Curriculum, programme development, admissions and evaluation
  • Incorporation of learning technologies
  • Operational requirements (including roles, personnel, resources)
  • Budget, current & future funding
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Cost-benefit of this model (is what we propose cost-effective?, i.e., there are no other alternatives that would be cheaper or better?)
  • Challenges

  • University of British Columbia and MOI University will speak to readiness of Phase 2B&3B

  • Sarah Dryden-Peterson: Presentation on research findings re most appropriate diploma and degree programmes to develop. Inclusion of all points mentioned above as relevant.

  • Description of Phases 3A & 4
  • Discussion based on presentations discussion and draft written report
  • Don Dippo: Overview of Phase 3 &4
  • Lead Partners will speak to future development of Phases 3&4 including all points mentioned above.
